Speed up Firefox in 10 seconds

By

Firefox is by far the best choice to browse over the internet. It is the most powerful browser, in compliance with the newest web standards, quick like a real fox, and it's also possible to make it run even faster. We could do that manually by typing about:config in the address bar, and changing some settings.

Even though, there's a handy add-on that does all the hard work in just few seconds,
it's called Fasterfox Lite, and lite does not mean less as his developer says. Lite is due to the removal of unnecessary stuff from the older version, aiming to improve its performance.

You can download Fasterfox Lite here, it takes up to 5 seconds to complete. For non Firefox users, click here to download.

After installing, go to Add-ons/Extensions, and click options beside Fasterfox Lite.

Fasterfox lite optimum settings

Default

Keeps default settings.

Courteous

Tweaks rendering, and cache settings only.

Optmized

Tweaks for an improved network performance within RFC specs.

Turbo Charged (Recommended)

Maximum performance, exceeds RFC specs, and increases load to web servers.

Fasterfox Lite comes also with a page load timer for you to check how faster your browsing experience became after installing it.

Advanced options:

Enable link prefetching

It allows the browser to download certain pages in background, so they will be ready to be displayed when requested.

Disable IPv6 DNS lookups

Some people say that disabling IPv6 DNS lookups may improve connection speed.

Both boxes above should be ticked for a faster performance.

Browsing with Fasterfox Lite is truly a whole new ball game, it saves a lot of time, and you will be few clicks away from getting it working. I hope you enjoy it!
